Happy Easter from Wales For Europe! • Pasg Hapus oddi wrth Cymru Dros Ewrop!

Easter 2017 is coinciding with the beginning of the negotiations for the UK’s exit from the EU. A great many issues will arise over the next few months and years, but as we’re tucking into our Easter dinners of traditional Welsh lamb or nut roasts it seems appropriate to look at the implications for our farming industry.

Wales exports more to the EU than it imports, particularly in agriculture; this week farmers have issued a final plea to the UK Government to ensure that it is protected from the adverse effects of Brexit. One demand that crosses over to all sectors in Wales, and what the Welsh Government & Plaid Cymru are calling for, is free and unfettered access to, and within, the European Single Market.

“We want full unfettered access to the single market. Our consultation was clear that members wanted a new bespoke deal with the EU.”

Meurig Raymond, NFU President

Secretary of State for International TradeLiam Fox is keen to establish a quick free trade deal to try to show that Brexit will work. New Zealand’s second largest export is lamb; what impact will a desperate free trade deal have on Welsh lamb? (hint: not good).

While the ongoing needs of Wales’ farming industry give us seasonal food for thought, Wales For Europe continues to grow and focus on the full range of issues that matter to the people of Wales.

Lively and committed local groups are up and running across Wales – in GwentCardiff, Swansea and North Wales with a further launch planned shortly in Radnorshire. Details of meetings and events are on our website www.walesforeurope.org. We are pleased to help you set up a new local group if there is not yet one in your area.

Article 50 may have been triggered but the debate on our future relationship with Europe is not over yet.

Mae’r Pasg 2017 yn cyd-ddigwydd â dechrau’r negodiadau i’r DU adael yr UE.  Bydd llawer iawn o faterion yn codi dros yr ychydig fisoedd a blynyddoedd nesaf, ond wrth inni fwynhau ein cinio Pasg o gig oen neu rostiau cnau Cymreig traddodiadol mae’n ymddangos yn briodol i ystyried y goblygiadau ar gyfer ein diwydiant ffermio.

Mae Cymru’n allforio mwy i’r UE nag y mae’n ei fewnforio, yn arbennig ym maes amaethyddiaeth; yr wythnos hon mae ffermwyr wedi cyhoeddi ple terfynol i Lywodraeth y DU i sicrhau eu bod yn cael eu diogelu rhag effeithiau niweidiol Brexit. Un galwad sy’n trosglwyddo i bob sector yng Nghymru, a’r hyn mae  Llywodraeth Cymru a Phlaid Cymru yn galw amdano, yw mynediad rhydd a diymatal i, ac o fewn, y Farchnad Sengl Ewropeaidd.

“Rydyn ni eisiau mynediad llawn a diymatal i’r farchnad sengl. Roedd ein hymgynghoriad yn glir bod aelodau eisiau bargen bwrpasol newydd gyda’r UE.”

Meurig Raymond, Llywydd yr NFU

Mae’r Ysgrifennydd Gwladol dros Fasnach Ryngwladol Liam Fox yn awyddus i sefydlu bargen fasnach rydd gyflym i geisio dangos y bydd Brexit yn gweithio. Ail allforyn mwyaf Seland Newydd yw cig oen; pa effaith fydd bargen fasnach rydd fyrbwyll yn ei chael ar gig oen Cymreig? (awgrym: ddim yn dda).

Tra bod anghenion parhaus diwydiant ffermio Cymru yn rhoi rhywbeth inni gnoi cil drosto yn y tymor hwn, mae Cymru Dros Ewrop yn parhau i dyfu a chanolbwyntio ar yr amrediad llawn o faterion sydd o bwys i bobl Cymru.

Mae grwpiau lleol bywiog ac ymroddedig ar waith ledled Cymru – yng NgwentCaerdyddAbertawe a Gogledd Cymru gyda lansiad arall wedi’i gynllunio cyn bo hir yn Sir Faesyfed. Mae manylion ynghylch ein cyfarfodydd a digwyddiadau ar ein gwefan www.walesforeurope.org. Rydyn ni’n hapus i’ch helpu i sefydlu grŵp newydd os nad oes un yn eich ardal eisoes.

Efallai fod Erthygl 50 wedi’i sbarduno ond mae’r drafodaeth ar ein perthynas ag Ewrop yn y dyfodol heb ei chwblhau eto.

Os ydych chi eisiau i’ch llais CHI gael ei glywed, os pleidleisioch chi i Aros neu Adael, ymunwch â ni nawr.
